Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026 · Germany
This Privacy Policy explains how SwiGram handles information when you use the SwiGram application and related services. SwiGram is a messaging service that allows users to communicate through private chats, groups, channels, contacts, and other communication features. SwiGram offers personal accounts and business accounts.
In short: SwiGram is developed in Germany. We do not sell your data, show no advertising, and do not track you. Your chats and media are stored in the European Union (Germany and Belgium).
1. Information We Collect
Depending on the features you use, SwiGram may collect and process:
- Account information: such as your name, email address, and unique username when you create or manage an account.
- Messages and user content: messages and other content you send or share through SwiGram.
- Photos, videos and files: images, videos, voice messages, and documents (such as PDF, Word, Excel, or ZIP files) you choose to upload, send, or share.
- Chat settings: chats or groups you mute and messages you mark with a star. These are saved only for your account and are not visible to other users.
- Typing status: a short-lived indication that you are currently typing in a chat or group, shown to the other participants of that conversation and removed automatically.
- Quick connect and invite codes: temporary QR codes you display to connect with another person, and group invite links created by group admins. See the QR Codes, Quick Connect and Invite Links section below.
- Other user-generated content: content you create in chats, groups, channels, profiles, or other SwiGram features.
- User identifiers: account-related identifiers, including your unique username, necessary to operate your account and provide app functionality.
- Account type: whether your account is a personal account or a business account.
- Business information: if you create a business account, the company name, company address, and, if you choose to provide them, business category, description, approximate location, opening hours, and business contact details such as phone number, email address, and website. See the Business Accounts and Business Directory section below.
- Business page content: if you have a business account, the catalog entries (such as product or service names, descriptions, prices, and pictures), vehicle listings and their photos, and gallery photos you choose to publish on your business page.
- Business tools: if you have a business account, the automatic welcome and away messages you set up, your quick replies, and the chat labels you create and assign to your chats.
- Appointment bookings: when you book an appointment with a business, the name you enter, your username and account name, the reason for the appointment, the chosen date and time, and the status of the booking. If you have a business account, your booking settings, such as time-slot length, booking period, and breaks.
- Personal planner: appointments you add to your own planner (title, date, time, and note), your reminder settings, your notes, and your to-do list.
- Language setting: the language you choose for the app, or the language of your device, used to show the app and to send notifications in your language.
- Online status information: whether you currently have SwiGram open and the time you were last active, used to indicate whether you are online, subject to your privacy settings.
- Device and notification information: push notification tokens assigned to your device by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple Push Notification service, the language of your device, and technical information needed to deliver notifications and calls.
- Group join requests: when you ask to join a group with a group code, the request, its status, and the name of the group you asked to join.
- Contacts and connection information: information necessary to manage contacts, private chat requests, blocks, and connections between SwiGram users.
- Optional phone number: if you choose to add and verify a phone number, SwiGram processes that number for phone verification and, depending on your privacy setting, to allow other users who already have your number in their device contacts to discover your SwiGram account.
- Status updates: text, photo, and video status updates you post, who has viewed them, and the reactions or replies they received. See the Status Updates section below.
- Your own contact names: names you give to other users for yourself. They are visible only to you.
- Reactions and shared appointments: emoji reactions to messages and appointments shared in chats, including who added a shared appointment to their own planner.
- Customer cards, orders and queue (business accounts): notes a business keeps about its customers, order status cards, and entries in a business's digital queue. See the Business Tools section below.
- Accounts on this device and app lock: if you use several SwiGram accounts on one phone, the list of these accounts and a protected sign-in key for switching between them; whether app lock is turned on. See the Several Accounts on One Phone and App Lock section below.
- Plan and usage information: whether your account uses the free version or SwiGram Plus, and counters needed to apply usage limits (for example how many orders were created today).
- Device contacts: if you explicitly open the Telephone Contacts feature and grant permission, SwiGram reads contact names and phone numbers from your device for contact discovery. Access is optional and is not required to use the rest of SwiGram.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to provide and operate SwiGram, including creating and authenticating accounts, delivering messages and content, enabling private chats, groups, channels and contacts, providing username search functionality, displaying business pages and providing the business directory, displaying business catalogs, vehicle listings, and galleries, sending automatic messages set up by business accounts, handling appointment bookings, sending appointment reminders, storing your planner, notes, and to-do list, showing the app in your chosen language, sending push notifications about new messages, reactions, requests, and calls, showing status updates to your contacts, providing business tools such as customer cards, order status, and the digital queue, applying usage limits of the free version, enabling several accounts on one phone, displaying online status according to user settings, managing blocks and connection requests, maintaining functionality, providing security, preventing abuse, and supporting users.
3. User-Generated Content
SwiGram allows users to create and share content with other users. You are responsible for content you send, upload, publish, or share. Content may be visible to other users depending on the feature, audience, and privacy settings you select.
Content shared in groups or public channels may remain available to other users as necessary for the continuity and operation of those conversations, including after an account is deleted as described below.
4. Photos, Videos, Files and Messages
SwiGram processes messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents, and other content as necessary to provide messaging and sharing functionality. We do not use this content for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Photos, videos, voice messages, and documents sent in private chats and groups are stored in a non-public storage area and can only be downloaded by members of that conversation through short-lived download links. Only certain document types can be sent, with a maximum size of 100 MB. When you open a received document, it is downloaded to the temporary storage of SwiGram on your device and opened with an app you choose. When a message is deleted for everyone, the attached file is deleted from storage as well.
Media on Your Device
To show chats quickly and to save mobile data, SwiGram keeps copies of photos, profile pictures, and voice messages you have opened or received in the app's own storage on your device (not in your photo gallery). This local storage is limited in size and older files are removed automatically. Photos and videos are saved to your device's gallery only when you choose to save them. When you save a photo or video, SwiGram sets its date to the time of saving so that it appears at the top of your gallery.
Forwarding Messages
You can forward a message to up to five chats or groups that you are a member of. When a message with a photo, video, voice message, or file is forwarded, a copy of the file is stored for the new conversation. Forwarded messages are marked as forwarded and show you as the sender; the original sender is not shown.
Disappearing Messages
In private chats, either participant can turn on disappearing messages (for example 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days). New messages are then deleted automatically after this time, together with their photos, videos, files, and reactions. Both participants are informed in the chat when the setting is changed. Please note that the other person can still save or photograph content before it disappears.
Group History for New Members
When someone is added to a group or their join request is accepted, the app shows them only messages sent after they joined. SwiGram stores the time of joining for this purpose.
Reactions and Appointments in Chats
You can react to messages with an emoji. Your reaction is visible to the members of the chat, and the author of the message may receive a notification about it. You can also share an appointment (title, date, and time) in a chat. Members can add it to their own planner; the chat then shows who has added it.
Link Previews
When a message contains a web link, SwiGram may show a preview with the title, description, and image of the linked page. To protect your privacy, this preview is loaded by SwiGram's servers and not by your device, so the linked website does not receive your IP address. For this purpose, the link is sent to our server, and the preview may be stored temporarily (up to 7 days) to avoid loading the same page again.
5. Status Updates
Personal accounts can post status updates (text, a photo, or a short video). A status is visible only to people who have you in their contacts and whom you have in your contacts, and not to blocked users. Status updates disappear automatically after 24 hours; the files are deleted from storage within about two days. You can delete a status earlier at any time.
When someone views your status, SwiGram records this so that you can see who has viewed it. Viewers can react with an emoji or reply; a reply is sent as a message in your private chat with that person. Status updates are handled only through SwiGram's servers and cannot be read directly by other users' apps.
6. QR Codes, Quick Connect and Invite Links
Quick connect: you can display a QR code so that another person can scan it with SwiGram and start a private chat with you right away. The code is random, does not contain your phone number or email address, and expires after about two minutes. When someone scans your code, a private chat between you is created and you are added to each other's contacts. Blocked users cannot connect this way.
Group invite links: group admins can share an invite link or QR code. Anyone with the link can ask to join the group; an admin of the group must approve the request first.
Camera: SwiGram uses your device camera to scan QR codes only when you open the scanner, subject to the permission you grant. Images from the scanner are not stored or uploaded.
7. Voice and Video Calls
SwiGram provides voice and video calling features between users. When you start or receive a call, SwiGram may use your device microphone for voice communication and, for video calls, your device camera to provide live video communication.
Microphone and camera access is used only when required to provide the calling features and is subject to the permissions you grant through your device. You can manage camera and microphone permissions through your device settings.
Call Media and WebRTC
SwiGram uses WebRTC technology for voice and video calls. Where technically possible, call audio and video are transmitted directly between the participating devices using a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection.
If a direct peer-to-peer connection cannot be established because of network conditions, a TURN relay server operated for SwiGram may be used to relay the call media between the participating devices as necessary to establish and maintain the call. Access to the relay server uses temporary, per-user access credentials that expire automatically.
SwiGram does not record or store the audio or video content of voice or video calls as part of the calling feature.
Call Signaling and Technical Information
To establish, route, maintain, and end a call, SwiGram processes technical information necessary for call signaling and operation. This may include account identifiers of the participants, call identifiers, call type, call status, signaling information, and technical network information required by WebRTC and related communication infrastructure.
This technical information is used to provide the calling functionality, deliver incoming-call notifications, establish connections, maintain service reliability, and help protect the service against abuse.
The technical connection information exchanged to set up a call (including network addresses) is deleted automatically as soon as the call has ended or been declined. Calls that did not end properly, for example because the app was closed or the connection was lost, are cleaned up automatically within about 24 hours.
Call History
SwiGram shows you a list of your recent voice and video calls. For each call, SwiGram keeps who called whom, the date and time, whether it was a voice or video call, and whether the call was answered, declined, or missed. Only the two participants of a call can see it in their call history. These entries are stored with the private chat in which the call took place. They contain no audio or video.
8. Usernames and Search Visibility
When creating a SwiGram account, you are required to choose a unique username. The username forms part of your account and, once assigned, cannot be changed.
You can control whether other users are allowed to find you through username search from the privacy options available on your profile page. If this search option is disabled, your account will not be made discoverable through the username search functionality provided by SwiGram.
Username Reservation After Account Deletion
If you delete your SwiGram account, your assigned username will remain permanently reserved. A permanently reserved username will not become available for registration or use by another user.
The username will also not automatically become available to you if you later create a new SwiGram account. Account deletion does not release or reactivate previously reserved usernames.
9. Online Status
Online status is enabled by default when using SwiGram. Your online status may therefore be visible to other users unless you disable the Online Status option in your profile privacy settings.
While SwiGram is open on your device, the app regularly updates your online status and the time you were last active. If the app is closed or loses its connection, you are shown as offline shortly afterwards.
You can change this setting through your profile page. When online-status visibility is disabled, other users cannot see your online status, and you also cannot see the online status of other users.
10. Blocking Users
SwiGram allows users to block other users at any time, including users with whom they have previously communicated through a private chat.
When you block another user, the blocked user will no longer be able to find, view, search for, or contact you through SwiGram. Blocking is intended to prevent further direct interaction between the blocked user and the user who initiated the block.
You may remove a user from your blocked list and unblock them at any time through the available account or privacy controls. Unblocking a user removes the block restriction but does not override the other user's privacy settings, such as chat requests.
11. Contacts
SwiGram provides a Contacts feature that helps users manage their connections within the application.
Starting a Private Chat and Chat Requests
You can write to most SwiGram users directly, for example after finding them by username. A new chat becomes visible to the other person only when the first message is sent. If you turn on Chat requests in your privacy settings, people must first send you a request, which you can accept or decline. Business accounts always need an accepted request before they can write to a personal account. To prevent abuse, the number of new chats a user can start per day is limited.
If someone you do not know writes to you, SwiGram shows options to add, block, or report them; photos and videos from that person are blurred until you tap them, and their calls do not ring on your device.
People are added to your Contacts page when a chat request is accepted, when you connect via quick connect, or when you add them yourself. When a customer writes to a business account, the customer is added to the business's contacts. Either user may remove the other user from their Contacts list at any time by using the available delete/remove control.
Removing someone from your Contacts list does not necessarily delete previous messages or other content already exchanged between the users.
Your Own Contact Names
You can give another user a name of your choice (for example a nickname). This name is visible only to you and is shown in your chats, call history, and notifications instead of the name the other user chose. To show it in notifications, SwiGram's servers read your contact names when sending a notification to you. The other user is not informed.
Contacts Through Groups
Members of an SwiGram group may see the other members who participate in that group. A group member may add another member of the same group to their own SwiGram Contacts list using the available contact functionality.
Adding another group member to a Contacts list does not override that person's privacy settings. If the other user has turned on chat requests, they must still accept a request before private communication can take place.
Membership in the same group, or adding a group member to Contacts, does not override another user's privacy settings, blocking choices, or private-chat approval requirements.
Telephone Contacts and Phone Number Discovery
The Telephone Contacts feature is optional. SwiGram requests access to your device contacts only when you choose to open this feature and your device requires permission. Denying contacts permission does not prevent you from using the rest of SwiGram.
When you use Telephone Contacts, contact names are used locally on your device to display and search your address book. SwiGram does not create or store a copy of your device address book in its database. Phone numbers needed for discovery may be transmitted to SwiGram's backend for the purpose of determining whether a corresponding SwiGram account has enabled phone-number discoverability.
Telephone Contacts does not automatically add people to your SwiGram Contacts list and does not bypass the other user's privacy settings or chat requests.
Optional Phone Number and Discoverability
Adding a phone number to your SwiGram account is optional. If you choose to add one, the number is verified through Firebase Authentication, a Google service, using an SMS verification process. The phone number is not displayed publicly as part of your SwiGram profile and is not used as your public username.
If you enable Allow others to find me by my phone number, SwiGram may use a protected server-side representation of your verified phone number to support contact matching. Other users may then discover your SwiGram account when the corresponding number is already stored in their device contacts and they use Telephone Contacts.
You can disable phone-number discoverability from your profile privacy settings. You may also change or remove your verified phone number using the available account controls.
Contact Invitations
If a device contact is not found on SwiGram, you may choose to invite that person. SwiGram opens your device's sharing options with an invitation message. You choose the app or service through which the invitation is sent; SwiGram does not automatically send an SMS or invitation on your behalf.
12. Business Accounts and Business Directory
When creating an account, you can choose between a personal account and a business account. Business accounts are intended for companies and organizations that want customers to be able to find and contact them on SwiGram.
Information on Business Pages
A business account has a business page. Depending on the information you provide and the visibility options you select, the business page may show the company name, business category, description, opening hours, and business contact details such as phone number, address, email address, and website. Business page information may be visible to all SwiGram users. For each contact detail, you can choose whether it is shown to everyone.
The company address entered when the business account is created is stored privately and is only shown on the business page if you choose to show an address there.
Business Directory and Approximate Location
If you enable Show in search, your business can be found by other users in the SwiGram business directory, for example by category, country, and distance. To support distance-based search, SwiGram determines an approximate location from the region or the postal code (and, in countries without postal codes, the city) you enter. Only the approximate center of that area is used; your exact street address is not used to calculate the location. You can disable Show in search at any time.
Verified Business Accounts
SwiGram may review and verify business accounts. Verified accounts are marked with a verification badge. After verification, the name and address of the business account can no longer be changed by the account holder, so that other users can rely on the verified information.
Shareable Business Link
Every business account has a link in the form swigram.com/b/username that the business or anyone else can share. If SwiGram is installed, the link opens the business page in the app. If the link is opened in a web browser, the page shows the business's name, profile picture, verification badge, category, city and country, and its short description, which is the same information that is already public on the business page. To show this page, the website loads this information from SwiGram's servers. SwiGram does not create a profile of the people who open the link; only the usual technical server logs of our hosting providers are created.
Personal Accounts
Personal accounts do not have a business page, are not listed in the business directory, and are not asked for a postal address.
13. Business Tools
Business accounts can use additional tools to present their business and communicate with customers.
Catalog, Vehicle Listings and Gallery
A business account can publish a catalog of products or services, vehicle listings (for example for car dealers), and a photo gallery on its business page. This content, including names, descriptions, prices, and pictures, is public: it can be seen by all SwiGram users who open the business page. Pictures for business pages are stored in a public storage area and can be opened by anyone who has the link. When the business deletes an entry or a picture, the picture is deleted from storage as well. Please do not include personal information about other people in this content.
Automatic Messages
A business account can set up a welcome message, which is sent automatically the first time a customer writes to the business, and an away message, which is sent automatically when a customer writes outside the business's opening hours (at most once every 12 hours per chat). These messages are written by the business and are sent by SwiGram's servers on behalf of the business into the private chat with the customer. To avoid sending the same message repeatedly, SwiGram keeps a short record of when an automatic message was last sent in a chat. This record can only be accessed by SwiGram's servers.
Quick Replies and Chat Labels
A business account can save quick replies (prepared text it can insert into a chat) and create labels to organize its chats. Quick replies, labels, and the assignment of labels to chats are saved only for the business account and are not visible to customers or other users.
Customer Cards
A business account can keep a customer card for a customer, with fields the business defines itself (for example notes, dates, choices, a phone number, or photos). Customer cards, including their photos, are visible only to the business account and are not shown to the customer or to other users. The business is responsible for the information it enters and must have a legal basis for it; it should only record information it needs. Customer cards are deleted when the business deletes them or deletes its account.
Order Status
A business account can create an order in a private chat with a customer (for example a repair or a meal) with a title, an optional note, and a status such as received, in preparation, ready, or picked up. The order appears as a card in the chat, and the customer receives notifications about important changes. Orders are stored for the business so that it can see open and completed orders, and can only be changed by the business through SwiGram's servers.
Digital Queue
A business account can run a digital queue. A customer joins by scanning a one-time QR code shown by the business with the SwiGram app; the business can also add walk-in customers by name. SwiGram stores the name, the queue number, the time of joining, and the status (for example waiting, called, or served), shows the customer their position and an estimated waiting time, and sends notifications when it is almost their turn and when they are called. To estimate waiting times, SwiGram calculates the average time per customer for the current day. Queue entries are deleted automatically on the following day.
Business Team
A business account can add team members, for example employees, with their name, email address, and job title. If the email address already belongs to a SwiGram account, the person receives an invitation and only becomes a team member after accepting it in the app. If not, SwiGram creates a team account for this email address with the name entered by the business and sends an email with a link so that the person can choose their own password. The business never learns this password. The email address is used only for signing in to the team account and for team emails. Team accounts are not shown in the user search.
The business can pass a customer chat to a team member. The team member can then read the whole chat, including earlier messages, pictures, and files, and reply on behalf of the business. On these replies, customers see the business name together with the team member's name and job title, but not the team member's own account. Only the team member the chat was passed to and the business itself can see the chat; other team members cannot. When the chat is passed to someone else or given back to the business, or when the team member is removed from the team, the previous team member loses access immediately.
When a business removes a team member, a team account that SwiGram created for that business is deleted together with its data. Personal SwiGram accounts that accepted an invitation remain; only their access to the team ends. The business is responsible for being allowed to add the people it invites to its team.
Ending a Session
The business or its team member can ask the customer to end the session. Nothing is deleted unless the customer confirms. If the customer confirms, all messages, pictures, and files of this chat are deleted for both sides. If the customer writes another message instead, the request is cancelled.
14. Appointment Booking
Business accounts can allow customers to book appointments. The available times are calculated from the business's opening hours and booking settings.
When you book an appointment, SwiGram stores the name you enter, the reason for the appointment, the chosen date and time, and the status of the booking. So that the business can see who made the booking, SwiGram also shows the business your SwiGram username and account name. A booking is visible only to you and to the business, and is otherwise handled only by SwiGram's servers.
The business can confirm or decline a booking and add a short message. Either side can cancel the booking. SwiGram notifies the other side and posts a short message about the booking (for example its status and time) into the private chat between the customer and the business. No message is posted if either side has blocked the other.
Bookings are kept while both accounts exist, so that past and upcoming appointments remain visible to both sides. When either the customer or the business deletes its account, the bookings between them are deleted.
15. Personal Planner: Appointments, Reminders, Notes and To-Do
SwiGram includes a personal planner where you can add your own appointments, write notes, and keep a to-do list. This content is stored in a part of your account that only you and SwiGram's servers can access. It is not shared with other users and is not used for advertising.
Reminders: you can choose to receive reminders 24 hours and/or 1 hour before your appointments, including appointments booked with a business. To send reminders on time, SwiGram's servers keep a scheduled reminder containing the title, date, and time of the appointment until it has been sent. The reminder is removed when it has been sent, when the appointment is changed, cancelled, or deleted, or when you turn reminders off. Reminders are delivered as push notifications.
You can edit or delete your appointments, notes, and to-do items at any time. They are deleted when you delete your account.
16. Several Accounts on One Phone and App Lock
Switching accounts: you can add a second SwiGram account on the same phone (more with SwiGram Plus) and switch between them without entering your password each time. For this, the app keeps the list of accounts on your device and stores a sign-in key for each account in the protected storage of your device (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android). SwiGram's servers store only a protected (hashed) form of this key; a new key is created with every switch, and keys stop working when you change your password or remove the account from the phone. You may also receive notifications for the other accounts on this phone; they show which account they belong to. Incoming calls are only shown for the account that is currently open.
App lock: if you turn on app lock, SwiGram asks for your fingerprint, face recognition, or device code when opening the app. This check is done by your device's operating system; SwiGram does not receive or store any biometric data. The setting is saved only on that device.
17. SwiGram Plus and Usage Limits
Some features may have usage limits in the free version (for example the number of orders per day, customers in the queue per day, or accounts per phone), while SwiGram Plus removes or raises these limits. SwiGram stores which plan your account uses, until when it is valid, and counters needed to apply the limits. This information can only be set by SwiGram's servers.
If SwiGram Plus is offered as a paid subscription, it is purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The payment is processed by Apple or Google; SwiGram does not receive your payment card or bank details. SwiGram only receives the information needed to confirm and manage the subscription (for example the product, the purchase or renewal date, and whether the subscription is active).
18. App Language
By default, SwiGram uses the language of your device. You can choose a different language on your profile page. Your chosen language is saved on your device. SwiGram also saves the language code in your account so that notifications sent by SwiGram's servers, such as message notifications, booking updates, and reminders, are in your language.
19. SwiGram for the Computer (Web Version) and Linked Devices
SwiGram can also be used in a web browser on a computer at web.swigram.com. The web version shows the same chats, groups, and business tools as your phone and uses the same account. It does not offer voice or video calls.
Signing In With a QR Code
The web version cannot be signed in to with an email address and password. To sign in, the web page shows a QR code, which you scan with the SwiGram app on your phone under Profile → Linked devices. Before the computer is linked, your phone shows the device and asks you to confirm. The QR code is valid for two minutes and can only be used once. It contains only a random session number; the secret part of the sign-in stays in the browser, and SwiGram's servers store only a protected (hashed) form of it. To protect against abuse, the number of sign-in attempts from the same network address is limited for a short time; this temporary information is deleted automatically.
Linked Devices
For each linked computer, SwiGram stores a short device description (for example the browser and operating system), the date it was linked, and when it was last active. This information is stored in a part of your account that only you and SwiGram's servers can access, and you can see it on your phone under Profile → Linked devices. You can link up to five computers. When you remove a device on your phone, or sign out in the browser, the computer is signed out immediately. Linked devices are deleted when you delete your account.
Notifications and Files in the Browser
If you allow it, the web version shows desktop notifications for new messages and chat requests while SwiGram is open in your browser. These notifications are created by your browser on your computer. Files you send from the computer, including files you drag into a chat, are uploaded in the same way as from the phone. The web version does not use your camera, microphone, or location.
The web version is delivered through Google Firebase Hosting. Your browser may keep technical data, such as the sign-in session, on your computer so that you stay signed in. To end this, sign out in the browser or remove the device on your phone.
20. Push Notifications
SwiGram sends push notifications, for example about new messages, reactions, status replies, chat and group join requests, accepted requests, incoming calls, appointment bookings, appointment reminders, order updates, and queue updates. Notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and, on Apple devices, through the Apple Push Notification service. To do this, SwiGram stores the notification tokens of your devices in a part of your account that only you and SwiGram's servers can access. A notification may contain the sender's name (or the name you gave that person) and a short preview of the message. You can manage notification permissions in your device settings.
21. No Tracking, No Advertising, No Selling of Data
- No selling: SwiGram does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
- No advertising: SwiGram shows no advertising and does not use your information for advertising, neither its own nor that of other companies.
- No tracking: SwiGram does not track you across apps or websites of other companies. The app contains no advertising, tracking, or analytics tools from third parties.
- No profiling: SwiGram does not analyze your messages, photos, videos, calls, or contacts to create a profile of you, and does not use them to train artificial intelligence.
Your information is used only to provide SwiGram to you, as described in this Privacy Policy.
22. Sharing of Information
Information may be processed by service providers when necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or support SwiGram. These include Google Firebase (account sign-in, database, server functions, push notifications, and hosting of the web version), Apple Push Notification service on Apple devices, Hetzner Online GmbH (cloud storage for photos, videos, and other media, located in Germany), an email delivery service (Resend) for sending verification emails and business team emails, and a server provider that hosts the call relay server. If paid subscriptions are offered, Apple and Google process the payments as described above. These providers process information only on our behalf and according to our instructions, or as independent providers of their own services (such as Apple and Google for app stores, sign-in, and push notifications). We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, and security of SwiGram, our users, or others.
23. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
24. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide SwiGram, maintain account functionality, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
Some information is deleted automatically after a fixed time, for example: status updates after 24 hours (their files within about two days), messages with disappearing messages turned on after the chosen time, technical call connection data after the call, link previews after up to 7 days, queue entries on the following day, the QR codes for quick connect, web sign-in, and the queue after a few minutes, and temporary anti-abuse counters after a short time.
Certain information or content may continue to be retained after account deletion where necessary for the operation of the service or for legitimate security, legal, or compliance purposes. This includes permanently reserved usernames and, where applicable, messages previously sent to group conversations as described below.
25. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your SwiGram account directly from within the application without contacting SwiGram.
To delete your account, open your Profile page and select Delete Account.
When you delete your account, your account will be removed subject to information that must or may be retained for legitimate operational, security, legal, or compliance purposes.
For business accounts, deleting the account also removes the business page, including its catalog, vehicle listings, gallery photos, and booking settings, and removes the business from the business directory. Your appointment bookings, planner appointments, reminders, notes, to-do list, quick replies, chat labels, and automatic message settings are deleted as well. Your online status information, notification tokens, linked devices, and phone-number discoverability entry are also deleted, as well as your status updates, your own contact names, the sign-in keys for switching accounts, and your plan information. For business accounts, customer cards (including their photos), orders, and queue data are deleted as well, as well as the business team and the team accounts SwiGram created for it.
Messages in Groups After Account Deletion
Deleting your account does not automatically delete messages that you previously sent in group conversations. Messages previously sent to groups may remain visible to other members of those groups in order to preserve the continuity of the conversation.
After the account is deleted, the deleted user's name will no longer be displayed with those retained group messages. Instead, the sender will be displayed as “User”.
Usernames After Account Deletion
If you delete your SwiGram account, your assigned username remains permanently reserved and cannot be registered or reused by another user. It also cannot automatically be reclaimed by you if you later create a new SwiGram account.
26. Channels and Public Content
SwiGram allows users to create and operate channels. Before creating a channel, the channel creator must agree to the applicable channel terms and requirements presented by SwiGram.
Channel creators and authorized publishers are responsible for the content they publish through their channels and must not use SwiGram channels to publish unlawful, abusive, harmful, or otherwise prohibited content.
SwiGram may review publicly accessible channel content when a channel is reported or when review is reasonably necessary to enforce our rules, protect users, or maintain the safety and integrity of the service.
SwiGram reserves the right to restrict, block, or remove access to a public channel if, following review, we determine that the channel contains abusive, prohibited, unlawful, or otherwise unacceptable content.
Reporting a Channel
Any user who believes that a public SwiGram channel contains abusive, harmful, prohibited, or otherwise inappropriate content may report the channel directly to SwiGram at info@swigram.com.
SwiGram will review reported public-channel content and may take appropriate action based on the content and circumstances. If a channel is determined to contain content that violates applicable rules or requirements, SwiGram may block or otherwise restrict access to the channel.
27. Children's Privacy
SwiGram takes the privacy and safety of younger users seriously.
SwiGram is intended only for users who meet the minimum age required to use online services and provide consent to the processing of personal information under the laws applicable in their country or region.
Users who do not meet the applicable minimum age requirement must not create or use an SwiGram account unless their use is permitted by applicable law and, where required, authorized by a parent or legal guardian.
Information About Children
SwiGram does not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. Users are expected to provide accurate information when creating and using their accounts and must comply with the applicable age requirements.
If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child who was not legally permitted to use SwiGram, we may take appropriate action, including restricting or deleting the account and deleting or otherwise handling associated personal information as required by applicable law.
Certain content previously shared with other users, such as messages sent in group conversations, may remain as described in the Account and Data Deletion section of this Privacy Policy.
Communication and Public Features
SwiGram includes communication features such as private chats, groups, contacts, username search, public channels, and a business directory. Depending on a user's settings and participation in these features, other users may be able to find, view, or interact with the user.
Private communication remains subject to the user's privacy settings, such as chat requests, and to SwiGram's blocking features. Users can block other users when they no longer wish to allow interaction, as described in the Blocking Users section of this Privacy Policy.
Parents and Legal Guardians
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that a child under your responsibility is using SwiGram in violation of applicable age requirements, or that SwiGram has collected personal information from that child inappropriately, please contact us.
We will review the request and may take appropriate steps to investigate, restrict or remove the relevant account, and handle associated personal information in accordance with applicable law.
Parents and legal guardians may contact us regarding children's privacy or safety concerns at info@swigram.com.
When contacting us, please provide sufficient information to allow us to identify and review the relevant account or issue. For privacy and security reasons, we may need to verify the identity or authority of the person making the request before taking action.
Safety and Reporting
Users, parents, and legal guardians may report inappropriate, abusive, or potentially harmful conduct involving SwiGram users or public channels.
Reports concerning public channels or inappropriate public content may be sent to info@swigram.com. SwiGram may review reported content and take appropriate action, including restricting access to content, blocking a public channel, or restricting or removing an account where appropriate.
28. Legal Bases (GDPR)
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process personal information on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): to provide SwiGram and its features to you, including messages, calls, contacts, business tools (including the business team), and SwiGram Plus.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for optional features that need your permission, such as access to device contacts, camera, microphone, photos, notifications, phone-number discoverability, and online status. You can withdraw your consent at any time in the app or in your device settings.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): to keep SwiGram secure, prevent abuse and spam (for example limits on new chats or sign-in attempts), and fix errors, and, for team members added by a business, to set up and run the team account in the interest of the business and its customers.
- Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): where we must keep or disclose information by law.
29. Your Rights
If the GDPR applies to you, you have the following rights regarding your personal information. Exercising them is free of charge.
- Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): you can ask us which personal information we store about you, for what purposes, and to whom it is passed on, and receive a copy of it.
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): you can have incorrect information corrected. You can change your name, profile picture, and most other details yourself in the app at any time.
- Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): you can have your information deleted. The easiest way is to delete your account in the app under Profile → Delete Account. What happens then is described in the Account and Data Deletion section.
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): in certain cases, for example while the accuracy of your information is being checked, you can ask us to only store your information and not use it otherwise.
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): you can ask to receive the information you provided to us in a common, machine-readable format, or to have it sent to another provider where technically possible.
- Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): where we process information on the basis of legitimate interests, you can object to this for reasons arising from your particular situation. We will then stop, unless there are compelling reasons for the processing (for example protecting the service against abuse).
- Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR): you can withdraw any consent at any time, for example by turning off access to contacts, camera, microphone, or notifications in your device settings, or by turning off phone-number discoverability or online status in the app. Processing that took place before the withdrawal remains lawful.
- Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 77 GDPR): you can complain to a data-protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work, or where you believe your rights were violated.
How to make a request: write to info@swigram.com from the email address of your SwiGram account and include your username. To protect your account, we may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on a request. We will answer within one month; in complex cases this period can be extended by up to two further months, in which case we will inform you.
30. International Use
SwiGram may be available in multiple countries and regions. SwiGram's database and server functions run in a Google Cloud region in the European Union (Belgium), and photos, videos, and other media are stored in Germany. Some service providers, such as Google, Apple, and our email delivery service, may also process information outside the European Union, in particular in the United States. In these cases, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
31. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as SwiGram evolves or as legal and operational requirements change. Updates will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date.
