How to use SwiGram

1Getting started

1. Download SwiGram from Google Play or the App Store and open it.
2. Tap Create a new account and choose Personal account (for friends and family) or Business account (for your company).
3. Enter your name, your email address, a Username and a password. You do not need a phone number.
4. Open the email from SwiGram and tap the link in it to confirm your email address.
5. Go back to the app and sign in with your email address and password.

💡 TipYour username is permanent and cannot be changed later, so choose it carefully.

💡 TipNo email? Look in your spam folder. If you try to sign in before confirming, you can tap Resend to get the email again.

2Finding people

1. By username: on the Home page, tap Search username, type the exact username of the other person and start the chat.
2. In person: tap Quick connect. One of you shows My code, the other taps Scan and scans it. The chat opens right away.
3. From your phone book: open Contacts and then Telephone Contacts. You see which of your contacts already use SwiGram and allowed others to find them by phone number. Someone is not on SwiGram yet? Tap Invite to SwiGram.

💡 TipThe code of Quick connect renews itself every few minutes, so an old photo of your code cannot be used by others.

3Chatting

1. Type your message and send it. With the + button you can send a photo from the Camera or the Gallery, a Video, a File or an Appointment.
2. Tap the microphone to record a voice message.
3. Press and hold a message to see more options: Reply, Forward, Star message, Pin message, Edit or Delete message (Delete for me or Delete for everyone).
4. The ⋮ menu at the top of a chat has Search in chat, Starred messages, Disappearing messages, Mute notifications and Change name. A name you give a contact is only visible to you.

💡 TipOne grey tick means the message was sent, two blue ticks mean it was read.

💡 TipWith Disappearing messages turned on, new messages in this chat are deleted automatically after the time you choose.

4Groups and channels

1. Create a group: open Groups, tap New group, enter a Group name and add people from your contacts.
2. Invite others with the Invite link or the group code. People who want to join send a request, and the group admins approve it under Join requests.
3. Join a group: open an invite link you received, or tap Join a Group and enter the group code.
4. Channels: open Channels, tap Explore channels, open a channel and tap Follow channel. Only the channel owner and its publishers can post. You can also Create channel yourself.

💡 TipNew members of a group only see the messages written after they joined.

5Voice and video calls

1. Open a private chat, tap ⋮ and choose Voice call or Video call.
2. All your calls are listed under Calls at the bottom of the app. Tap a call to call back.

💡 TipIf someone you do not know writes to you, their calls do not ring until you have replied to them.

6Status

1. On the Home page, tap Add status. You can post a coloured text, a photo or a short video (up to 30 seconds).
2. Only contacts who also saved you can see your status. It disappears after 24 hours.
3. You can see who viewed your status. Others can reply with an emoji or a message, which arrives in your private chat.

7Privacy and security

1. Tap your profile picture on the Home page to open your Profile. You find the settings under Privacy.
2. Show online status: choose whether others can see when you are online.
3. Allow people to find me by username and Allow people to find me by phone number: choose how others can find you.
4. Chat requests: when turned on, people who are not in your contacts must send you a request before they can write to you.
5. Block / Report: in the ⋮ menu of a chat. You find everyone you blocked under Blocked Users.
6. App lock: Open SwiGram only with your fingerprint, face or phone PIN.

💡 TipSwiGram shows no ads, does not track you and does not sell your data.

8SwiGram on your computer

1. On your computer, open web.swigram.com in the browser. A QR code appears.
2. On your phone, open Profile → Linked devices → Link a device and scan the code.
3. Done: your chats appear on the computer.

💡 TipYou can remove a computer at any time under Linked devices. It is signed out immediately.

9Two accounts on one phone

1. Open Profile → Switch account → Add account and sign in with your second account.
2. From now on you switch between the accounts with one tap.

💡 TipYou also get notifications of the other account. They show which account they belong to.

10Language and design

1. SwiGram uses the language of your phone. To change it, open Profile → Language.
2. In Profile you can also choose the design: automatic, light, dark or Black Edition.
